Please see our 'breeding schedule' for our next pups to be born here.
Any babies available for adoption will appear on the 'Available Cavies' page.
Savannah was a piggy I bought from the sales pen at Liskeard Agricultural show in the beginning of July. It was soon obvious the 3 1/2 month old was already pregnant. Taking things nice a gently with her, I was totally shocked to come home and find this adorable monster sitting next to her! She must have littered in the early afternoon. He weighed in at 124g.
About to go to sleep when Fallen decided it was the ideal time to litter! So without any interference, she had two gorgeous fluffballs. First a 111g DE Red and white boar followed by a 138g DE Red and white sow. Really chuffed with them both and Fallen is really enjoying her second motherhood!
'Kalusha's Vizard' (Staying) 'Kalusha's Varia' (Reserved)
Faith had her last litter in the afternoon. A 111g DE red and white boar along with a 108g DE white sow. The sow was perfectly fine. However, the boar was lying on his side convusling - I have seen this before and he was very cold to touch. Faith instinctively knew something was not right. I warmed him up and gave him vitamin/calcium supplement - he seemed to improve and whilst Faith refused to feed him I still got him to suckle a fair bit. We carried on hand-feeding and keeping him warm through the night. He still was not strong in his back legs almost to the point of paralysis. The following morning he suddenly went downhill and now he has crossed over the rainbow bridge.
'Kalusha's Heaven' (RIP) 'Kalusha's Umeko'
At 9am, Kaylee littered to two huge babies! First a PE white 145g boar and then a 143g Lemon-agouti, cream and white sow. The sow had a hernia in the umbilical cord - so we took her straight to the vets who rearranged everything and stitched her up. We will have to wait and see if any infection may take hold - so fingers crossed for a safe recovery.
Due to the hernia - I do not feel it is safe for Tia to be bred from, so she will probably stay here as a pet.
'Kalusha's Taichou' (hold) 'Kalusha's Tia Maria' (staying)
Nola unwrapped two lovely sows in the late evening. Thrilled both are ok! One 115g golden agouti, gold and white sow and a 108g tricolour sow.
'Kalusha's Sasa-Harley' (staying) 'Kalusha's Swedish Dream' (Reserved)
'Kalusha's Shelby'(RIP) 'Kalusha's Lilla'(Fiona) 'Kalusha's Fialová'(staying) 'Kalusha's Pytaũ'
Felisha had her babies in the late afternoon. 3 identical Lilac & Gold peruvians - 2 sows and 1 boar ranging in weight from 99-108g. Also a 50g Lilac, gold and white peruvian sow who is doing fine! I am amazed to have the luck of 3 sows!!
Update: 1st April, little Shelby passed away much to my sadness - as she would have stayed here!! I am unsure if the other babies (double her weight/size) were just too much to deal with or whether it was something internal.....either way it was not meant to be. (The remaining 3 have been named with names meaning 'purple' in different languages!)
Gucci littered to 2 peruvian babies in the very early hours. Black, Gold and white peruvians, one 98g boar and one 105g sow.
'Kalusha's Golden Rose' (hold) 'Kalusha's Jim-Bob' (?)
'Kalusha's Riviera-Raya'(Reserved) 'Kalusha's Raijin-Fujin' (?) 'Kalusha's Ryoichi' (Liz)
During the night, Jambolini unwrapped to a litter of three babies. First a 105g black and white boar, followed by two DE whites - each a sow (98g) and boar (99g). She is a really good mum and is always talking to them.
'Kalusha's Qai Qai' (Staying)
In the morning, Hope unwrapped a whooping 146g Golden agouti, gold and white sow - the heaviest ever born here! Hope utterly loves the baby, which is really nice to see.
'Kalusha's Patience'(Staying) 'Kalusha's Perrin' & 'Kalusha's Peppimo' (Joseph)
7am: Hollie began contractions (as I have expecting sows in the bedroom, I was watching eagerly!) then 45mins later, nothing. So having felt a breeched birth inside we sorted that out - we then delivered a 105g black, cream and white Lunkarya sow! After a rest, some glucose and grass she later delivered a tricolour Lunkarya boar weighing 82g. It is now 11am and we are still waiting for the others that I can still feel moving around. No contractions currently...
Nothing all day. phoned the vet at 2pm - I put the babies in the box and she has contractions....irony! So the vet says wait.....I return to Hollie and she has popped one out - golden agouti sow is dead. So now I don't go anywhere just watching...a few heaves and out pops one - so I grab it and tear open the sac... it breathes! So a 99g Chocolate agouti, gold and white Lunkarya boar.
3.30pm: can finally relax. Poor Hollie is now definately retired!
