The Lunkarya's are a New Emerging Variety ('Rare breed') and faced with a long challenge to be awarded the Guide Standard status. They have a laid-back nature and the characteristic 'electrocuted' hairstyle never fails to go un-noticed. I have finally found the breed for me.
The first Lunkarya I came across was on Carmen Langstadtler's amazing website. Since then I have been captivated by this breed and searched everywhere for them! Our first Lunkarya's came from Sabrina Green in August 2007. Then we had four imported from Germany in September 2007 and a further four from Belgium in October 2007. All our thanks go to Denise (Graphite Cavies) for making that possible. Having reached our second generation, we imported eleven more from Holland ourselves in June 2009.
Regarded as the most successful Lunkarya breeders, Carmen and Iris Langstadtler, first imported the breed (from their native Sweden) in March 2004. It is possible to follow the pedigree back to these original Lunkarya. Most of our Lunkarya are from Carmen and Iris's breeding lines.
*The Lunkarya have been presented to the RVCC and have been given the New & Emerging Status*

4 1/2 month old Chocolate, gold and white Lunkarya boar imported from Austria. Bred by Petra from her award-winning Lunkarya's. Really broad head and promising coat. Such a cutie!! (His uncle recently won Best Lunkarya Boar 2010 (with 97 points at the Austrian Federal Championships 2010), his father won 96points at Austria's cavy shows and his grandmother won best Lunkarya sow.)
L100 Sire: 'Yin-Yang vom Bergwinkel' Dam: 'Eternal Flame vom Alztalscweinchen'
Just over 1 Year old Chocolate and white lunkarya boar from Austria. Has amazing 'purple' eyes - blue rims on pink eyes. Fabulous harsh coat. Due to have his first litter here with us soon, with Genesis.
*Gained 96 points at his show in Austria last winter*
L4 Sire: 'Kalusha's Drops of Silver ' (retired) Dam: 'Kalusha's Curly Roots'
1 1/2 year old cream agouti, cream and white lunkarya boar. My second generation. Son to Drops and Curly. A lilac carrier. His coat is one of the harshest I have felt, so I am very pleased with him. Very cheeky natured as he knows he is fab!! I would have loved to have shown him, but he is a bit too friendly!! Father to 'Mille', 'Qai Qai' and 'Sasa-Harley'. Also just fathered a litter with Kaylee.
L3 Sire: 'Marinky's Puca' Dam: 'Faith's Phenomenon'

1 1/2 year old silver agouti and white Lunkarya boar. I can not thank Sandra enough for him, I think of him as a gift and will remain here forever. Just fathered Faith's last litter and now living with Curly.
*In both his shows in Holland, he scored 93 points and was 2nd Finest Lunkarya of the Loenen 2009 show.*
L5 Sire: 'Jay-Kay of Yarmida's Place ' Dam: 'Freya of Yarmida's Place'
15 month old DE red Lunkarya boar. Huge thanks to Liz from Tudorvale Stud for letting him live out his days with us. Lovely harsh coat. Just had a litter with Fallen, father to 'Vizard'.
*1st New & Emerging - Welsh National Cavy Club - April 09 * *1st New & Emerging - North Somerset - May 09 *first ever show)
L4 Sire: 'Yspahan von den Knopfaugen ' (departed) Dam: 'Englantine les Jardins d'Alysson'

2 year old lilac/white argente lunkarya boar. A rather unusual colour and certainly unexpected! Named after his grandfather 'Milkyway's Jonkhy Leeroy' who was also a lilac/white argente! Good density and harshness.
**To be neutered and find a loving retirement home with some of the retired sows**
