Kalusha's Cavies

Here we only breed Lunkarya to Lunkarya to have the best offspring as close to the standard as possible. Most of our Lunkarya's are derived from Carmen & Iris Langstadtler's 'Von den Knopfaugen' stud. Hours are spent to choose the best matings - harshness, density and curl being the main factors. We are aiming for only homozygous Lunkarya to breed from. We do not breed in quantity and may occasionally have some available. We are only aiming for the best quality, healthy babies with the harshest coats. I expect to have a broad range of colours as the coat itself is the most important characteristic of the Lunkarya, however we will be aiming for chocolates.

This is Tia, a cream-agouti, cream and white Lunkarya sow - nearly 3 months old. She is the daughter of Kaylee and Gambit. She was born with a hernia in her umbilical cord.  If I had taken the vets advice she would have been PTS, I am glad I gave her the chance as she is just beautiful. I will not risk breeding her as a result of the condition.

4 1/2 month old Sepia and white lunkarya sow from Austria. Chocolate carrier. This little lady is settling in well and enjoying her time out on the grass.

Her uncle recently won Best Lunkarya Boar 2010 (with 97 points at the Austrian Federal  Championships 2010), her father won 96points at Austria's cavy shows and her grandmother won best Lunkarya sow.

Nearly 6 month old black, cream and white sow. Lilac carrier. Her mother, Hollie, has been retired after her only litter, so Patience will carry on her line.  Her father was our late Caesar, who passed away last December - making her just that little bit more special! Lovely dense coat, which is increasing in harshness as she develops, and a stocky body.

Mille is the 8 1/2 month old daughter to Eliza and Gambit. She is a slate, cream and white Lunkarya sow. Has a very high proportion of von den Knopfaugen' lineage and lovely markings. Gorgeous upright 'wealth of coat' which is improving in harshness! Now retired from showing as she is a bit nippy! Currently living with Chilli for her first litter.

14 month old chocolate and white lunkarya sow. Daughter to Zarah and Yspahan. A lilac carrier. She has pure 'Von den Knopfaugen' lineage. Very dense coat and compact body. Had her first litter with 'Kalusha's Nimbus' (Gambit's son). Sporting a shorter haircut for the summer!!

16 month old old DE red and white Lunkarya sow. Quite a cutie and her coat is pretty good. Mini clone of her mother, Fallen and has her father's temperment, Arnold (departed). Really nice natured and so proud of her. Mother to 'Qai Qai'.

16 month old red and white Lunkarya sow. Daughter to Genesis and Cooper. Utterly fantastic  coat: dense with excellent curls and superb harshness. Would have loved to have shown her. Just had her first litter, with Gambit, to 'Sasa-Harley'.

1 1/2 year old red and white Lunkarya sow. Another stunning thick, dense coat with lovely, harsh curls. Fantastic head and chops. She is just lovely and so happy to see you in the morning!

2 year old red and white Lunkarya sow. Lovely typey girl who has such a gorgeous dense, curly and particularly harsh coat. Mother (and sister!) to 'Nola', who is a mini clone of her! Currently expecting her second litter with Chilli.

Just over 2 year old PE red Lunkarya sow. Lilac Carrier. Daughter to Eglantine and Yspahan (departed). Her coat has matured to become very dense, curly and harsh. Had her first litter with Arnold (departed), in which they had 'Hope'. Just had her  second litter with Will, to 'Vizard'.

Just over 2 year old lilac, gold and white sow. Daughter to Rich-Girl and Yspahan (departed). She is very enquisitive and really enjoys being out in the run. Matured really well, with a compact body with a very dense coat. Mother to 'Gambit'. Currently living with Phantom.

2 year old Sepia and white Lunkarya sow imported from Holland. Has a pedigree of both Swedish and German lines. Another fantastic chunky sow with a dense, curly coat! Chocolate carrier. Just had her second litter with Gambit - mother to Tia.
