Kalusha's Cavies

This page is devoted to retired pigs who still remain here. A few are my core group of pets who helped fuel my interest of cavies, others are retired from breeding. Some may be seeking a loving retirement home to be pampered, but most will stay with me till the end of their days.

Sows

3 1/2 year old agouti, red and white dutch AbyssinianX. Long-hair and lilac carrier. Originally from West Yorkshire, She is the biggest sow we have! She has had 2 litters, both of 5 pups! Due to her mixed parentage, the babies are mainly pets - gorgeous and friendly. She won 'Best Adult Pet' twice & 'Overall Pet' in 2008. Won 'Best Adult's Pet & Overall Pet' at Penryn Cavy club March 2009. Won the Southern Cavy Club 'Super Pet' at the Cornish Champs in Oct 2009. 

3 1/4 year old Lilac, white and cream sheltie from Amy Heale. She is such a sweet-natured cavy with a lovely temperment and beautiful face markings.

3 1/2 year old black and white Lunkarya sow. Imported from Germany two years ago. She comes from 'von den knopfaugen' bloodlines and has a great temperment. Her coat is harsh, with excellent density, although not as curly as some. Had her last litter, with Yspahan, in which she gave me 'Jambolini'.

  2 3/4 year old cream/lilac Argente and white Lunkarya Sow. Satin Carrier and imported from Belgium two years ago. She has an amusing character, hence the name 'Sniff' and she thinks she is boss-bags! She is mum to Caesar and Curly. Now had her second and final litter, this time to Arnold, leaving me Isolde.

   2 1/2 year old black, sepia and white Lunkarya sow. Her mother was a peruvian. Lilac carrier. She is a really nice natured cavy. Along with Black-Neck, she was the first Lunkarya I had. Will be looking for a retirement home, once Faith has had her last litter.

14 month old Chocolate and white Lunkarya sow. Quite a chunky sow!  Had  her first litter with Gambit to three Lunkarya boars. Mother to Nimbus. Is now retired from breeding.

1 1/2 year old red and white Lunkarya sow. Littermate to Herbie. Lovely thick, dense coat that has increased in harshness as she matured. Just had her litter with our late Caesar, in which she had 'Patience'. Will now be retired from breeding.

10 month old lilac argente, saffron and white lunkarya sow. Daughter to Rich-Girl and Arnold. Has Rich-Girl's temperment and the naughty habit of chewing other chaps hair!! 

I have decided to retire Isolde as her 'obsessive hair-eating' is so severe, the boars she has lived with are terrified of her.  Will be looking for a pet home shortly.

Nearly 4 year old cream and white peruvian from Germany. Satin carrier and very sweet-natured. She loves babies and is Creme's mother. She is retired from breeding, which is a shame as I would have loved a sow from her.

3 3/4 year old, slate, cream and white Peruvian from Amy Heale. A very pretty cavy who can be a grump when groomed!! From pure Myra Mahony’s breeding lines. Was expecting her last litter with Troy, but he still isn't 'working', so she is now retired which is such a shame as I would have loved a daughter from her.

2 1/4 year old tri-colour pet peruvian. She has a good temperment and is daughter to Hazel. Diego and Maple's grand-daughter. She has gorgeous markings and her colours are divine! She is retired from breeding, after her first litter (as she was awful mother!), and may be looking for a pet home soon.

Boars

  3 3/4 year old Sheltie. Cream agouti, white and cream. He is a star! A very amusing chap that is a pleasure to own. Has an excellent character and produces gorgeous, laid-back babies. He is confident and friendly enough to run loose in the garden!

1 1/2 year old gold and white peruvian boar. He was a suprise baby from Tabitha and Blackneck. His coat is very soft with good rosette placement and has a temperment to match!! Carries extra rosettes, which is such a shame. Usually wins challenges in the pet classes at local shows.

  3 1/2 year old tri-colour lunkarya boar. Originally bred in Germany. He has a really good harsh coat with perfect curls. He is very laid-back and just a big cuddly bear! He has developed 'fatty eye', which is thought to be inherited. As a result he can not be used for breeding anymore, so I am considering neutering him. He is such a brilliant chap that I couldn't bear to part with him!

Just over 2 year old red and white Lunkarya boar. Imported from Holland. Won Best Lunkarya at the 2008 ECCC show in Dordrecht, with a score of 94/100. Gorgeous boy with a super harsh coat! He has excellent chops and frontals.

2 1/2 year old cream and white Lunkarya boar, imported from Belgium. A Lilac Carrier. Despite only being an L2, he has one of the best 'super harsh' coats I have felt! Always does well at the local pet classes, although regretfully, I never entered him into the NEV classes. He is very gentle natured and father to 'Hope' and 'Isolde'.
